The POCO X8 Pro officially launched today, March 17, 2026, alongside the POCO X8 Pro Max. At this price point, getting IP69K water resistance, 100W fast charging, a 6,500mAh battery, and glowing RGB camera lights is something nobody saw coming. Here is everything confirmed.
The confirmed launch details
I am Ameer Hamza, and at Global Tech Press, we track every major launch with verified facts only.
The POCO X8 Pro series launched in India on March 17 at 5:30 PM IST. These smartphones will be sold online via Flipkart in India, as has been the case with all previous POCO phone launches.
Xiaomi’s affordable smartphone brand POCO confirmed that it would be launching the POCO X8 Pro series, issuing an X post stating the series would be unveiled on March 17 at around noon UK time.
The chipset that powers it
The POCO X8 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, while the POCO X8 Pro Max is powered by the Dimensity 9500s. Per POCO, the X8 Pro scores 2,300,000 on AnTuTu, while the X8 Pro Max can achieve a score of 3,100,000, rivalling the likes of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Both phones are confirmed to come with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
The battery that surprises at this price

The POCO X8 Pro has a 6,500mAh battery, while the X8 Pro Max rocks a massive 9,000mAh cell for the India variant. The global variant of X8 Pro Max features a slightly smaller 8,500mAh battery. Both phones get 100W fast charging support along with 27W reverse wired charging.
At this price bracket, 100W charging with a 6,500mAh battery is genuinely class-leading. You are getting more raw battery than the Galaxy S26 Ultra charges at.
The IP69K rating nobody expected
The POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max will feature a metallic mid-frame, along with an IP69K rating, providing users a sense of confidence when bringing the phones near water sources.
IP69K is the highest water resistance rating available. Most flagship phones only offer IP68. A mid-range phone with IP69K in 2026 is genuinely unexpected.
The RGB lights that make it stand out
Called Dynamic RGB Lights, these are dual-ringed LEDs placed around each rear camera lens. They glow for incoming calls, notifications, music streaming, or gaming. Both models feature customisable LED rings around the rear cameras for a unique look.
This is a design choice that will divide opinions. Some will love it. Others will find it too gaming-focused. But nobody can deny it is different from every other phone launching this week.
Camera setup confirmed
The POCO X8 Pro gets a 50MP 1/1.95-inch Sony IMX882 primary camera with f/1.5 aperture and OIS, along with an 8MP ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view. As was the case with many previous performance-oriented handsets, the POCO X8 Pro series will feature a dual rear camera setup with no signs of a dedicated zoom lens.
No telephoto lens is a real compromise. If zoom photography matters to you, this is the most important thing to know before buying.
Build and design details
The POCO X8 Pro weighs 201g and measures 8.3mm in thickness. The X8 Pro gets a glass back, while the X8 Pro Max sports a fibre glass rear. The POCO X8 Pro features a 6.59-inch display and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

My honest take
The POCO X8 Pro is one of the most surprising mid-range launches of March 2026. IP69K water resistance at this price is genuinely unheard of. The 6,500mAh battery with 100W charging solves daily power anxiety completely. And the Sony IMX882 sensor with f/1.5 aperture and OIS gives it a real chance in low-light photography.
The two honest compromises are the lack of a telephoto camera and the Dynamic RGB lights that not everyone will appreciate aesthetically.
But if you are a gamer or heavy user looking for a phone that lasts all day and survives almost anything, the POCO X8 Pro at ₹43,999 is one of the strongest value propositions of 2026.
