The POCO X8 Pro just went official globally on March 17, 2026, and one particular spec line puts phones costing twice as much in an awkward position.
Introduction
Most flagship phones in 2026 still ship with 5,000mAh lithium ion batteries. Some push up to 5,500mAh. But they rarely cross that line. Meanwhile, the mid-range space is doing something that premium brands keep avoiding.
The POCO X8 Pro launched on March 17, 2026 with a 6,500mAh silicon carbon battery, IP69K water resistance, and the Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. All of that packed inside a phone that starts at ₹32,999 in India and $299 globally.
I am Ameer Hamza, and at the Global Tech Press, I have been tracking this phone from its first certification leak to its official launch. Here is what POCO just delivered and why it matters.
What POCO Actually Put Inside the X8 Pro
Announced in March 2026, the POCO X8 Pro features a 6.59 inch display, Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, 6500mAh battery, 512 GB storage, 12 GB RAM, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The X8 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 8500 Ultra.
It’s a 4nm chip that is basically a “plus” version of the 8400, running its octa-core Cortex-A725 CPU at higher clocks and with an extra core in the Mali-G720 MC8 GPU. The POCO X8 Pro delivers an AnTuTu score of 2,283,558 as tested by POCO Internal Labs. That score places the POCO X8 Pro comfortably in performance territory that mid-range phones rarely touched just twelve months ago.
The Display Is Brighter Than Most Smartphones

The Poco X8 Pro has a 6.59 inch display. It’s a 12-bit panel with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, 120Hz refresh rate and 1,268 x 2,756px resolution. This one does 2,000 nits in HBM and peaks at 3,500 nits (25% APL) with 3,840Hz PWM dimming.
For context, the Samsung Galaxy S26 peaks at around 2,600 nits. The POCO X8 Pro exceeds that at 3,500 nits in peak conditions. The 3,840Hz PWM dimming also means reduced eye strain during long usage at low brightness.
POCO X8 Pro’s display uses the next-gen M10 display panel, which features brand new red luminous material with 20% improved luminous efficiency to further reduce power consumption.
The 6,500mAh Silicon Carbon Battery and 100W Charging
This is where the POCO X8 Pro separates itself from the pack. The Si/C battery is smaller than the Pro Max, though at 6,500mAh capacity, it is still bigger than the batteries inside flagships from mainstream brands.
The Poco X8 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 8500 Ultra and houses a 6,500mAh battery. While smaller than the Max, it still easily outlasts most flagship phones currently on the market.
Both the POCO X8 Pro and the Pro Max support 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse wired charging. 27W reverse charging of POCO X8 Pro for iPhone 17 series will only be available via OTA starting from around March 2026. Yes, you read that right. This mid-range phone can reverse charge an iPhone 17 at 27W.
Camera: Sony IMX882 With OIS
The X8 Pro uses an IMX882 sensor. It is a 1/1.95 inch sensor with 0.8µm pixels behind an OIS-enabled lens with a wide f/1.5 aperture. The second camera on the back is an 8MP ultra-wide (f/2.2) module, while the selfie camera uses a 20MP sensor.
The Sony IMX882 is a proven sensor. It appeared in the POCO X7 Pro last year and in several Xiaomi devices. The cameras are the same as on the X7 Pro — the 50MP main has a Sony IMX882 sensor and an f/1.5 lens with OIS.
Fine details can look slightly artificial, avoiding the strong sharpening effects seen on the X8 Pro is what Stuff.tv noted in their hands-on. The camera does its job for social media and daily use, but the Pro Max with its Light Fusion 600 sensor pulls ahead in low light.
IP69K, Metal Frame, and the Dynamic RGB Light
The Poco X8 Pro is 8.4mm thick and weighs 201g. The new metal frame feels sturdier and more premium than the plastic frame of last year’s model. The back features a Dynamic RGB light. Like the Pro Max, the Pro is rated IP69K, except for some regions where it has an IP68 rating.
That Dynamic RGB light is a dual ring LED system around each rear camera lens. It can light up in 8 colors and show charging status, notifications, camera activity, or just keep tempo with the music. It sounds like a gimmick, but in practice, it replaces the notification LED that most phones abandoned years ago.
The POCO X8 Pro runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3, including Google Gemini and Circle to Search integration.

Pricing: What You Actually Pay

There is a pricing difference depending on the market. Here is the confirmed breakdown:
India (Official, via 91mobiles and POCO):
The POCO X8 Pro is priced in India at Rs 32,999 for the base 8GB RAM variant, while the top-end 12GB RAM option costs Rs 35,999. The handset is available in black, white, and green colour variants. There is also a special Iron Man edition, which comes with just a 12GB configuration and will set you back to Rs 37,999.
- Global: The base 8GB+256GB model starts at $299. The Iron Man Edition costs $399 and only comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
- UK: The Poco X8 Pro lands at $329/£349 (8GB/256GB) or $399/£399 for the 12GB/512GB Iron Man Edition.
- Europe: European pricing starts at 399 Euros (approximately Rs 43,000) for the Poco X8 Pro.
⚠️ Note: The POCO X8 Pro is not officially sold in the United States. The $299 and $329 figures are from the global po.co store and UK retail respectively. Availability may vary by market. Always verify pricing through official POCO and Xiaomi channels.
The Iron Man Edition
The Poco X8 Pro Iron Man Edition has the same hardware as the regular Pro, but it has a Stark Industries look. The phone’s sleek black body with gold streaks is based on Tony Stark’s armor. This isn’t just a cosmetic change on the outside.
The experience continues with a custom Iron Man themed user interface and a retail package that includes a Marvel branded SIM ejector tool and a signature red USB cable. The phone’s LED flash is styled to look like the Arc Reactor. That detail alone makes this one of the more thoughtful special editions in recent memory.
Final Thoughts
The POCO X8 Pro is doing what flagships from Samsung, Google, and Apple still refuse to do. A 6,500mAh silicon carbon battery, IP69K protection, and a 3,500 nit display for under $350.
The camera is the one area where the phone shows its mid-range DNA. The Sony IMX882 is solid but not class-leading. If you need better low light performance, the POCO X8 Pro Max with its Light Fusion 600 sensor is the better call.
But if you care about battery endurance, build quality, and raw display brightness at this price, the POCO X8 Pro just made a lot of flagship buyers question what they are really paying for.
