The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion just launched globally with a silicon carbon battery, a brand new Sony sensor, and military grade durability. It looks like a flagship in every way except the price tag. But there is a catch that nobody is talking about.
Introduction
Motorola, a Lenovo company, announced the new Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, a device that brings together future forward design, innovative materials, state of the art photography, and advanced AI capabilities. Motorola first revealed the Edge 70 Fusion at the Mobile World Congress 2026 on March 2. The phone arrived in India a few days later, on March 6, through Flipkart and Motorola’s website.
I am Ameer Hamza, and at Global Tech Press, we have been tracking the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion since its very first leak back in January 2026. Now that the phone is officially here and we have had real time to process what Motorola has delivered, I can tell you this: the spec sheet reads like something from a phone costing twice the price.

But there is one problem. And it is not what you would expect. I will get to that.
First, let me walk you through exactly what the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion brings to the table, what it does differently from the Edge 60 Fusion, and whether it deserves your money in March 2026.
The Design: Fabric Finishes and Quad Curved Glass

The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion was crafted with a focus on comfort, elegance and durability. Its flawlessly curved front glass blends seamlessly into the back, creating a true quad curve design that eliminates sharp edges and gives the device its signature smooth, refined silhouette.
What caught my eye immediately was the back panel. The Edge 70 Fusion features linen inspired fabric finishes on the rear panel, giving it a textured look and feel. This is not the glossy glass that attracts fingerprints within seconds. It actually feels like holding something crafted rather than manufactured.
Pantone Validated Colors That Actually Stand Out
The smartphone is available in attractive Pantone certified colors, including Silhouette, Blue Surf, and Country Air. The global version also offers Orient Blue and Sporting Green.
Each one has subtle colored accents around the camera lenses that give the phone a personality most mid range devices completely lack.
The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion comes with a slim and premium design that is only 7.99mm thick and weighs around 180 grams. For a phone with a 7,000mAh battery, that profile is genuinely impressive.
The Display: 144Hz Quad Curved AMOLED with 5,200 Nits
Let me talk about what you will be staring at every day. As the world’s first smartphone with a 144Hz quad curved display with Pantone Validated Color, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion brings every moment to life with remarkable depth and accuracy.
Its expansive 6.8 inch Extreme AMOLED display with 1.5K Super HD resolution reveals the full color potential of your favorite content, while a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 5,200 nits make everything feel smoother, sharper, and more vibrant, even in bright outdoor light.
The panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 10 bit color depth, and 100% DCI P3 color coverage. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
At 5,200 nits peak brightness, this is brighter than some flagship phones that cost three times as much. For anyone who spends time outdoors, this display holds up in direct sunlight without any struggle.
The Camera: World’s First Sony LYTIA 710 Sensor
This is where the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion makes its strongest statement. The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion introduces a major leap in mobile imaging as the world’s first smartphone featuring the Sony LYTIA 710 sensor. 21 For cameras, the phone includes a 50MP primary camera with the Sony LYTIA 710 sensor, an f/1.8 aperture, and OIS.
What the LYTIA 710 Actually Does Differently
Featuring OIS and an advanced f/1.8 aperture, the new LYTIA 710 sensor delivers exceptional clarity, superior signal to noise performance, and outstanding low light results with brighter highlights and deeper shadows.
It also includes a 13MP ultrawide camera with a 120 degree field of view, macro support, and an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera uses a 32MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. In daily use, the camera setup felt dependable rather than particularly dramatic.
Most of the photos taken were during normal situations, quick shots while stepping out, random street scenes, food pictures, or photos of friends. That is exactly the kind of camera behavior a mid range phone should deliver: reliable, consistent, and honest.
The Battery: 7,000mAh Silicon Carbon That Lasts Two Days
This is the headline spec. And it deserves the attention. One of the biggest highlights of the Edge 70 Fusion is its 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery, which Motorola says can deliver up to 52 hours of battery life under typical usage.
Why Silicon Carbon Matters Here
What makes the Edge 70 Fusion stand out is that it manages to pack this large battery without becoming bulky. Despite the capacity, the phone remains slim and lightweight, something made possible by the silicon carbon battery architecture, which allows manufacturers to increase capacity while maintaining a thinner form factor.
The phone supports 68W TurboPower fast charging, which the company claims can provide a full day’s usage with around 10 minutes of charging.
That is a significant jump from the Edge 60 Fusion’s 5,500mAh cell. 25The phone packs a 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery, a significant jump from the 5,500mAh battery on the Edge 60 Fusion.
Important: Two Variants Exist and Most People Do Not Know

Now let me get to the problem I mentioned earlier. This is the part that most publications are glossing over, and I think it matters.
Most of these details were confirmed during Motorola’s buzz building campaign for the Edge 70 Fusion last week, but a key piece of information that no one knew about until the MWC launch is that there are actually two different versions of this device.
A slightly costlier Motorola Edge 70 Fusion model packs a gargantuan 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery, while a cheaper variant settles for a 5,200mAh lithium ion cell.
The India Model vs The Global Model
In India, the phone packs a 7,000mAh battery, while the global variant gets a 5,200mAh unit. The Indian model is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and runs Android 16 out of the box.
The global model, on the other hand, runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform.
So if you are buying the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion in the UK or Europe, you need to pay close attention to which variant you are picking up. The 7,000mAh model costs £379.99 in the UK, €499 in Italy, and €529 in France, while the 5,200mAh variant is officially priced at £370, €469, and €499 in the exact same markets.
The price difference is small, but the battery and thickness difference is real. Make sure you are getting the variant you actually want.
The Software: motoAI 2.0 and Hello UI on Android 16
On the software side, it ships with Android 16 and Hello UI on top. Motorola is also introducing motoAI 2.0, which brings features like contextual suggestions, AI image generation tools, transcription, and content creation features.
Pick Your Own AI Assistant
This is something I genuinely appreciate. The system integrates with assistants such as Perplexity, Copilot, and Google Gemini, allowing users to switch between different AI services. That kind of flexibility is rare in the mid range segment.
You are not locked into one AI ecosystem. It brings Next Move contextual suggestions that understand what is on your screen and offer the right actions in real time, along with creative tools like AI Image Studio, Sketch to Image, Style Sync, Text to Sticker, and avatar creation.
Motorola’s commitment to 3 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches ensures long term software reliability, making it a future proof choice for buyers.
Durability: IP69, IP68, and MIL STD 810H
With IP69 and IP68 protection, MIL STD 810H certification and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, the device includes the highest rated durability features. Tested under controlled laboratory conditions, the phone is water, splash, and dust resistant to ratings of IP68 and IP69.
The phone can be submerged up to 1.5 meters in still, fresh water for up to 30 minutes, and is protected against powerful, high temperature water jets for up to 30 seconds.
For a phone under £400, that level of protection is unusual. Most phones in this range offer IP5 at best. The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion goes well beyond that.

Who Should Buy the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion?
If you live in the UK, Europe, India, or the Asia Pacific region, and you want a well built, well designed mid range phone with a two day battery, a reliable camera, and proper software support, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is one of the most complete packages available right now in March 2026.
The Sony LYTIA 710 sensor is a genuine first for any smartphone. The motoAI 2.0 platform gives you the choice of multiple AI assistants. The 68W TurboPower charging means you are never really tethered to a wall socket for long. And the durability ratings put it ahead of most phones at twice the price.
The One Problem: No US Availability
Here is the catch I mentioned at the start. 5Unfortunately, US availability seems unlikely, to say the least.
The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion will be available in select countries across Latin America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.
If you are in the United States or Canada, this phone is simply not coming to your market. And that is genuinely frustrating. Motorola, a company rooted in American tech history, continues to reserve some of its best mid range offerings for international markets only.
For US based readers, the closest alternatives in this price class remain the Pixel 10a (when it launches) and the Samsung Galaxy A56. But neither of them offer a 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery with this camera system at this price.
My Honest Take
The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is the best mid range phone Motorola has released in years. The combination of the Sony LYTIA 710 camera, the silicon carbon battery, the 144Hz Pantone validated display, and the fabric inspired design creates a device that feels genuinely premium without the premium cost.
Is it perfect? No. The lack of a microSD card slot will bother some people. The global variant shipping with the older Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 instead of the Gen 4 is a real distinction that buyers should be aware of. And the fact that it skips the US entirely is a missed opportunity for Motorola.
But for everyone else, this phone delivers where it matters. It lasts two days. It takes honest, reliable photos. It survives rain, drops, and dust. And it does all of this starting at under £380.
That is a hard package to argue against.
