The Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G price in India starts at ₹12,999 for the base variant and sales began today, March 17, 2026. At that price, it comes with something most people did not expect. A battery bigger than Samsung’s own flagship.
The battery that beats the Galaxy S26 Ultra
The phone packs a 6,000mAh battery, supporting 25W charging.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery. A budget phone priced at ₹12,999 has more raw battery capacity than Samsung’s most expensive flagship. That is the headline nobody expected from Samsung this week.

Official launch details
Samsung officially confirmed the India launch of the Galaxy M17e 5G for March 17 at 12 PM IST.
The phone went on sale in India via Amazon from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM IST, available in Blitz Blue and Vibe Violet colour options.
Interested buyers can get ₹1,250 off as part of launch offers, bringing the effective price down to ₹11,749.
Six years of updates at this price

The device is confirmed to ship with Android 16-based One UI 8.0 and a promise of six generations of OS upgrades.
While there is a sea of budget 5G phones out there, there are very few that can last you for as long as six years. Samsung has been filling that gap with its affordable phones for quite some time now and the new Galaxy M17e 5G is another addition.
This is genuinely remarkable for a phone at this price. Most budget phones receive two OS updates at best.

The one compromise you must know

The Samsung Galaxy M17e features a plastic build, yet it offers an IP54 rating. However, the display lacks dedicated screen protection.
Compared to the regular Samsung Galaxy M17, the new Galaxy M17e features an LCD screen, a 720p resolution, and an inferior camera setup. The regular M17 is only slightly more expensive at ₹14,295. Therefore, even though the new Galaxy M17e is a decent smartphone, the regular M17 model has better value for money.
The HD+ (720 x 1600) resolution on a 6.7-inch screen is the biggest daily compromise. Text looks softer than it should.
My honest take
The Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G is a smart choice for very specific buyers. The 6,000mAh battery, Android 16, IP54 protection, and six years of updates make it genuinely remarkable for ₹12,999.
But the HD+ LCD display is the deal-breaker for many. The regular M17 is only slightly more expensive at ₹14,295 and has better value for money.
If ₹2,000 is your absolute limit, the M17e is a reliable, future-proof choice. Otherwise, spend a little more and get the regular Galaxy M17.
