OnePlus OPPO service center merger India, OnePlus India shutdown 2026, OnePlus OPPO after sales support, OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu, OnePlus service center April 2026

OnePlus India just made a move that no one saw coming. They just handed your warranty to OPPO in India and if you own a OnePlus phone, this directly affects where and how you get it repaired from April 2026.

OnePlus India Is Merging Its Service Network With OPPO Starting April 2026

This happened two days ago and most OnePlus users have not heard about it yet.

OnePlus India announced a significant expansion of its after-sales service infrastructure by 50%, effective April 2026, enabling users to access more convenient and premium service experiences through OPPO India’s established service network.

The company plans to increase its authorized service centers from around 400 to over 600 by leveraging OPPO’s existing infrastructure.

That sounds like good news on the surface. More service points, faster repairs, wider reach. You can now get your OnePlus smartphones repaired at OPPO service centers, including Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

But here is the part that makes this announcement feel different from a routine upgrade.

The Timing Is the Problem

OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu has stepped down, with the reason behind his exit being cited as personal passions and not linked to the company’s performance. Liu is set to step down effective March 31, 2026.

That is four days from now. And Robin Liu is the person who, barely two months ago, publicly denied rumors of OnePlus shutting down.

Just two months ago, Liu publicly dismissed reports of OnePlus shutting down, calling them misinformation and assuring users the company was “operating as usual.” His resignation now gives those shutdown rumors considerably more traction.

No successor has been announced as of March 25, 2026.

What OnePlus Has Officially Said

OnePlus is not staying silent on this.

In a statement, OnePlus said, “We thank Robin for his contributions to OnePlus India. He moves on to pursue his personal passions, and we wish him the very best for his future endeavours.” The company added that “OnePlus India operations continue with local strategy and business continuity ensured.”

OnePlus emphasized that all existing commitments will remain intact, including warranties, regular software updates, and ongoing customer support assurances. The company’s messaging aims to reassure users that, despite operational adjustments, their ownership experience will not be disrupted.

That is the official line. The reality on the ground, however, tells a more complicated story.

The Bigger Picture: What Is Actually Happening to OnePlus

OnePlus is planning to shift almost entirely to online sales. The company has asked partner-run exclusive stores across India to shut down. Only three company-owned outlets in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru are likely to remain operational after this transition.

Distributors in the general trade channel have also been given a deadline of March 31 as their final billing date. Modern retail partners have been informed that billing will be paused for several weeks after March 31. Upcoming product launches, including the Nord 6, are likely to be available exclusively on Amazon.

And from 9to5Google, a source familiar with the situation confirmed something much larger. A source familiar with the behind-the-scenes workings confirmed that OnePlus will cease operations in certain regions, including vast portions of Europe, potentially as soon as April 2026.

Selected staff had been informed of this decision ahead of time, with some receiving severance packages ahead of this shutdown.

What This Means If You Own a OnePlus Phone Right Now

Under government regulations, OnePlus is obligated to provide service support for up to five years even if it shuts down completely. The company plans to meet this obligation through OPPO’s service network, minimizing additional investment.

So your warranty is legally protected. But the experience of getting your phone repaired is about to change.

Customers will benefit from a wider footprint, faster support, and access to an already mature service infrastructure operated by OPPO. That is the positive read.

The honest read is this: it is hard not to put two and two together and conclude that OPPO is taking over OnePlus India’s after-sales obligations ahead of a OnePlus shutdown or downsizing of operations.

My Honest Read on This

I have been tracking OnePlus since the OnePlus 3 days. This brand built its entire identity around being the underdog that never settled. The service center merger with OPPO is not the end of that story, but it is clearly a significant chapter closing.

OnePlus India’s market share dropped sharply to 2.4% in 2025, down from 3.9% in 2024. That kind of decline, combined with a CEO exit, a retail shutdown, and a service center handover to the parent company, is not a routine restructuring.

What does it mean for you as a user? Your existing phone’s warranty and software updates are protected. Your repairs will still happen, now at OPPO centers. And the Nord 6 is still confirmed to launch in India on April 7.

But if you were planning to buy a new OnePlus flagship in Europe or the US in the second half of 2026, that conversation just became a lot more complicated.
