Huawei’s First Pro Max in the Enjoy Family

This will be Huawei’s first time introducing a new Pro Max model to the Enjoy family.

The Enjoy series has always been Huawei’s budget lineup. Affordable phones, large batteries, basic cameras. Nothing flashy. Historically, the Enjoy series has consisted of mid range smartphones and the Enjoy 90 series will most likely stick to the same roots.

But the Pro Max name changes the expectations. Huawei’s first Pro Max smartphone, the Mate 80 Pro Max, attained a lot of popularity in the market. Following the fruitful success of that model, the company is ready to unveil another Pro Max phone in the family, but this time for the entry level segment.

I am Ameer Hamza, and at Global Tech Press, I have been tracking every leak, teaser, and official confirmation around the Huawei Enjoy 90 Pro Max since the first poster surfaced. Here is everything we know, verified across multiple sources, three days before launch.

Richard Yu Confirmed It Himself at the AWE Exhibition

This is not just a leak. The confirmation came from the top.

Huawei Consumer Business Group Chairman Richard Yu has shared the first glimpse of the Enjoy 90 Pro Max. The chief also confirmed certain highlights of the device alongside its official release timeline.

While detailing the new phone, Richard said the Enjoy 90 Pro Max will launch with a new Kirin chip, the HarmonyOS 6.0 operating system, and a giant Whale battery. The chief mentioned that the new phone will bring an iconic battery life compared to other Enjoy models, packed into an ultra thin body design. One does not have to carry a power bank while moving out of their homes for this device.

That last part is a direct claim from Huawei’s chairman. Whether the real world battery life delivers on that promise, we will find out after March 23.

The 8,500mAh “Whale Battery” Is the Headline Feature

Every source points to the same number. And Huawei is marketing it aggressively.

The biggest highlight revealed so far is what Huawei calls a “Whale battery.” According to the teaser, the battery is expected to have a capacity of around 8,500mAh.

Unlike the flagship and Nova models that relied upon 5,000mAh cell packs for a long time, Enjoy models have been running on over 6,000mAh batteries for years. But this year, Huawei is further increasing the Enjoy phones’ battery bar, exceeding 8,000mAh capacity.

To put that in context, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected around 4,700mAh. The Huawei Enjoy 90 Pro Max nearly doubles both of those numbers.

One important detail that is still missing: the charging information is still missing from the current surfaced information. Huawei has not confirmed wired or wireless charging speeds yet. That is a gap worth watching.

Leaked Specs: Display, Chipset, RAM, and Storage

BaldPanda on Weibo has shared display, battery, chips, and other specs of the Huawei Enjoy 90 Pro Max in advance. Starting with the display, the device will feature a 6.84 inch OLED LTPS flat screen.

Compared to the previous gen model, the Enjoy 80, which has a 6.67 inch display, the upcoming handset brings a bigger screen.

According to reports, the Enjoy 90 Pro Max will be powered by a Kirin 8 series processor, although the exact chipset has not been confirmed yet. Speculation suggests that it could use either the Kirin 8000 or Kirin 8020 platform. The Kirin 8020 is said to feature a Taishan architecture CPU combined with a Maliang 920C GPU.

The Kirin 8020 uses the TaiShan architecture CPU with a 1x 2.28GHz super core, 3x 2.05GHz medium cores, and 4x 1.3GHz small cores, integrating the MaLiang 920C GPU at 840MHz.

The Enjoy 90 Pro Max chip will be coupled with 8GB RAM and three storage variants: 128GB256GB, and 512GB. It can debut in four colors, just like the Mate 80 Pro Max: WhiteGoldCyan, and Black.

The Design Borrows Directly from the Mate 80 Pro Max

The company revealed the first glimpse at the Huawei Enjoy 90 Pro Max phone, resembling the Mate 80 design. Unlike predecessors that come with a plain round camera bump on the back, the new model gives a luxury vibe.

The lens plate is surrounded by a grill filled ring, and the overall layout reflects a rotating shooter appearance. Coming to the front face, it shows the signature single punch hole cutout with ultra thin bezels housing the flat screen, and super sleek edges.

It appears quite similar to the flagship Mate 80 Pro Max handset. The only difference is the absence of the dual ring design on the back.

One detail from GSMArena that is worth flagging: in the Enjoy 90 Plus and Enjoy 90 Pro Max, there are literally 2 empty “camera lenses” so even though they have 4 rings in the camera island, only one of them is for the camera. That is a cosmetic design choice, not actual hardware.

The Enjoy 90 Plus: The More Affordable Sibling

The Enjoy 90 Plus will launch alongside the Pro Max at the same event. Here is how it differs:

  • The Enjoy 90 Plus will equip a 6.7 inch LCD screen. It will be a flat panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. That is identical to the Enjoy 80 handset.
  • The Enjoy 90 Plus phone will pack a 6,620mAh cell.
  • The display has noticeably thick bezels, but we can also see the Action button, which Huawei calls the X button.
  • The Enjoy 90 Plus may come in three shades: WhiteBlue, and Starry Sky Black.

Why This Phone Matters Beyond China

The Huawei Enjoy 90 Pro Max is a China first launch. There is no confirmed global release date yet.

But here is why it matters for readers in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

Huawei is ready to introduce another Pro Max phone in the market with powerful specs and ultra long battery life. In the latest teaser, the firm indicated that the upcoming model will set a new battery standard for its cost effective competitors.

If Huawei can deliver a phone with an 8,500mAh battery, a 1.5K OLED display, and a Kirin 8 series chip at a budget price point, it puts pressure on every mid range competitor in the market. Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola, and OnePlus all sell mid range phones with batteries between 4,500mAh and 5,500mAh. The Huawei Enjoy 90 Pro Max is almost doubling that number.

Whether this phone ever reaches international markets is unclear. But the battery technology and the pricing strategy behind it will influence what competitors do next.

We will cover the full launch live on March 23 and update this article with confirmed pricing, final specs, and availability the moment Huawei announces them.
