The past two weeks have been chaotic for anyone who owns or follows OnePlus. Shutdown rumors, CEO exits, service center mergers, store closures, and deleted social media posts. It has been hard to tell what is real and what is speculation. So I went through every confirmed report from Android Authority, 9to5Google, The Economic Times, Business Standard, and TechSpot to separate fact from noise.
I am Ameer Hamza, and at Global Tech Press, here is every confirmed development as of March 29, 2026.
Confirmed: India CEO Robin Liu Has Left
Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, has resigned from his role effective March 31, triggering fresh speculation about the company’s future in the country.
Robin Liu, who joined OnePlus in 2018 and became India CEO in 2024, has stepped down, company confirmed.
As per reports he is already back in China, part of a massive global restructuring under parent OPPO, where sister brand Realme’s CEO Sky Li now oversees sub brands like OnePlus.
Confirmed: OPPO Is Taking Over OnePlus Service Centers
OnePlus has announced that it is exiting offline retail channels and moving toward an online first sales model. The brand will rely on OPPO’s infrastructure to strengthen after sales support. At the same time, the company is expanding its service network to over 600 centers.
Confirmed: Offline Stores Are Closing
OnePlus is planning to shift almost entirely to online sales. The company has asked partner run exclusive stores across India to shut down. Only three company owned outlets in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru are likely to remain operational after this transition.
Distributors in the general trade channel have also been given a deadline of March 31 as their final billing date.
Sourced but Not Officially Confirmed: Global Shutdown by April
On Tuesday, tipster Yogesh Brar reiterated earlier rumors that OnePlus will soon shut down in the US, the UK, the EU, and most other global markets while continuing to operate in a handful of Asian countries, including China and India.
Although the post has since been deleted, 9to5Google reports that the news was confirmed by a OnePlus insider. According to the source, the company will cease operations in North America and most of Europe, with the shutdown potentially occurring as early as April 2026.
Notably, global leadership never clarified whether operations in Europe, North America, or other markets would continue as usual. OnePlus has not directly responded to the latest reports.
What OnePlus Has Actually Said
It has confirmed that existing business in Europe carries on as normal for now and that after sales service, software update, and consumer rights are fully guaranteed for existing users.
OnePlus’ product launches are reportedly still in the pipeline, but many are unlikely to be released outside of China.
The Pattern You Cannot Ignore About OnePlus Shutdown
The possible restructuring follows earlier changes in the company’s global footprint. In 2020, OnePlus scaled down significant parts of its European operations, closing offices across the United Kingdom, Germany and other regions following the launch of its Nord series and the departure of co founder Carl Pei.
Then back in September, OnePlus announced the end of its longstanding partnership with Hasselblad.
The restructuring resulted in a drop of more than 20% in the brand’s global smartphone shipments, in addition to the cancellation of important projects. The company’s global shipments have fallen from approximately 17 million units to an estimated 13 to 14 million over the past year.
The situation is moving fast. Not everything is confirmed. But what is confirmed paints a clear picture of a brand in transition. Whether OnePlus survives as a global name or retreats to China and India, the next few weeks will tell us everything.
