OnePlus Just Handed Its Entire Service Network to OPPO: What It Means If You Own a OnePlus Phone

OnePlus OPPO service center merger, OnePlus India service network, OnaePlus shutdown April 2026, OnePlus OPPO after sales, OnePlus India CEO exit, OnePlus warranty OPPO, OnePlus shutting down global operations

OnePlus India announced a significant expansion of its after sales service infrastructure by 50%, effective April 2026, enabling users to access OPPO India’s established service network. On the surface, this sounds like a win for customers. More service centers. Faster repairs. Better reach. But the timing of this move tells a very different story.

I am Ameer Hamza, and at Global Tech Press, I have been tracking every development around the OnePlus OPPO service center merger since these reports started surfacing across Android Authority, 9to5Google, and The Economic Times this week. Here is what is actually going on.

From 400 to 600+ Service Centers Overnight

The company plans to increase its authorized service centers from around 400 to over 600 by leveraging OPPO’s existing infrastructure.

You can now get your OnePlus smartphones repaired at OPPO service centres as well, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

The firm added that all its existing warranties, software updates, and “user commitments” would continue without interruption. That is the official line. But there is a lot more happening behind the scenes.

The CEO Who Denied the Shutdown Just Left

OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu has stepped down, with the company citing “personal reasons” for his departure.

Robin Liu is the person who, barely two months ago, publicly denied rumors of OnePlus shutting down.

According to media reports, Liu is serving notice in the company, with his last date being March 31. He has already moved back to China, as he transitions out of his role at OnePlus.

As of now, OnePlus India has not revealed who will take over after his departure.

The Timeline That Lines Up Too Well

This April timeline coincides with OnePlus India’s aforementioned service center announcement. So it is hard not to put two and two together and conclude that OPPO is taking over OnePlus India’s after sales obligations ahead of a OnePlus shutdown or downsizing of operations.

OnePlus Could Exit the US, UK, and EU by April

A source familiar with the behind the scenes workings confirmed to 9to5Google that OnePlus will cease operations in certain regions, including vast portions of Europe, potentially as soon as April 2026.

Selected staff had been informed of this decision ahead of time, with some receiving severance packages ahead of this shutdown.

OnePlus is planning to shift almost entirely to online sales. The company has asked partner run exclusive stores across India to shut down. Only three company owned outlets in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru are likely to remain operational after this transition.

India Market Share Is Shrinking Fast

Despite the strategic shift, OnePlus India’s market share has dropped sharply to 2.4% in 2025 from 3.9% in 2024.

Industry data shows that OPPO, which owns OnePlus, has also been consolidating operations with Realme as part of a broader restructuring effort focused on online channels.

What This Actually Means for OnePlus Owners

Under government regulations, OnePlus is obligated to provide service support for up to five years even if it shuts down completely. The company plans to meet this obligation through OPPO’s service network, minimizing additional investment.

So the OPPO service center expansion is not just a goodwill gesture. It is a safety net. If OnePlus does scale down or exit certain markets, OPPO’s network becomes the fallback for every warranty claim, every software issue, and every hardware repair for the foreseeable future.

OnePlus is preparing for its next product launch in India. The OnePlus Nord 6 is set to launch on April 7. That suggests the India pipeline is not dead yet. But whether flagship devices like the OnePlus 16 ever reach markets outside of China remains a very open question.

The honest truth? This is not just a service center merger. It is a structural handover. And if you own a OnePlus phone right now, your repairs and warranty claims are about to be handled by OPPO whether you expected it or not.
