The Samsung Galaxy A57 comes with Android 16 out of the box, which has One UI 8.5 on top. That is the same version of One UI that Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series comes pre installed with. For a mid range phone that starts at $549, getting the same software as a phone that costs nearly double is a meaningful detail that most people are overlooking.

Awesome Intelligence: Samsung AI on a Budget
Through the latest One UI 8.5, Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G extend Samsung’s latest AI innovations to more users, with Awesome Intelligence that helps people get more things done with ease while unlocking new ways to create and stay productive.
Neither the Galaxy A56 nor A57 get the full suite of Galaxy AI features. That is for the company’s flagships and foldables. But they do get a simplified toolkit under the Awesome Intelligence umbrella.
Voice Transcription Is New to the A Series
Voice Transcription is new to the Voice Recorder app, making it easier to revisit important details from meetings, lectures or calls by quickly transcribing and translating call recordings or turning voicemail audio into text.
Both phones are getting voice transcription now in Voice Recorder. This feature was previously not included with the Galaxy A series.
Samsung Galaxy A57 Circle to Search Gets Smarter
Circle to Search with Google adds multi object recognition so users can easily explore multiple items in an image at once, from an outfit to surrounding accessories, all in one search.
Upgraded Bixby and Gemini Integration
As a conversational device agent, upgraded Bixby lets users intuitively control Galaxy settings and features using natural language, while Gemini navigates complex tasks across native Galaxy apps and select third party apps to support faster, more intuitive interactions.
This is the first time the A series has received both Bixby and Gemini working side by side as dual AI agents.
Galaxy A57 Camera AI You Will Actually Use
Object Eraser now delivers more natural results when removing unwanted distractions, like a passerby in the background or clutter in a café.
Galaxy A57 5G also features Auto Trim for even easier video editing.
Best Face supports more photos and continuous shooting, making it easier to capture group shots where everyone looks their best.
Six Years of Software Updates Confirmed
The Galaxy A57 takes software support to six years. That is a pretty solid promise for a mid range phone, only really bested by the likes of the Pixel 10a and iPhone 17e, and should see the phone through to One UI 14 based on Android 22.
What This Means for Mid Range Buyers
Getting One UI 8.5 on a $549 phone means you are not waiting months for a watered down update. You are getting the same software foundation as the $899 Galaxy S26 from day one. The AI features are lighter, yes. Samsung is still keeping some tools exclusive to the flagships. But for everyday use, the Awesome Intelligence tools on the Galaxy A57 cover the features most people actually need. That is what makes this particular software update worth paying attention to.
